Sharon Baker-Salony is a freelance writer from Southern California who now resides in the beautiful Carson Valley, Nevada, not far from Lake Tahoe. She hikes the Sierra Nevada peaks in her spare time and, as mentioned above, made her first successful Mt. Whitney summit at 49 years of age. She's made many hikes in the Sierra Nevada and surrounding mountain ranges, and tries to make one or more one-day trips up Mt. Whitney every year.
